The City of Manhattan, Kansas, known as "The Little Apple", is seeking a strategic, forward-thinking Chief Financial Officer to lead financial operations for a vibrant university community with a $230M budget and a strong commitment to innovation, transparency, and long-term sustainability.
This is a rare opportunity to partner directly with the City Manager and executive leadership to modernize financial strategy, strengthen long-range budgeting, and guide critical decisions around capital investment, revenue diversification, and fiscal policy. With a newly implemented Oracle ERP system, the City is poised for its next evolution and needs a CFO who can lead that transformation.
You'll oversee all core financial functions, including budgeting, accounting, investments, debt management, and financial reporting, while building a culture of collaboration, accountability, and trust across the organization.
The ideal candidate brings:
- Proven experience in municipal finance leadership
- Strength in strategic budgeting, forecasting, and CIP planning
- Ability to communicate complex financial issues to elected officials and the community
- A collaborative leadership style with a clear vision for organizational improvement
